Our Water Rescue Squad members are required to undergo a HUET course (Helicopter Underwater Escape Trainer) Bi annually in order to stay current in helicopter safety. The course enables our swimmers to know how to correctly and safely escape from the helicopter in the event it has to ditch into the water. A huge thanks to Bendigo Valley Sport and Charity Foundation for making this possible and to Heli Otago for putting our members through the course.

This shoutout goes to Seth and Dave at DM Holdings for generously funding swims for our team at Moana Pool.
This will enable us to keep ourselves fit and swim-ready for any incident that may arise. This will be especially helpful during the winter months! Thanks D M Holdings Massive shoutout to Seventhwave Wetsuits for custom building these suits for our Water Rescue Team.
It’s been an absolute pleasure working with you to create these fit for purpose wetsuits for the team! Massive shoutout also to Port Otago who have supported us in the purchase of these new wetsuits aswell as a Palm Rescue PFD for each one of our members. We really appreciate your ongoing support! We would like to acknowledge our friends at Aotearoa Gaming Trust for granting us the funds to purchase our Four new sets of Rescue Swimmer Harnesses and patient slings.
Our old sets had come to the end of their ten year service life and it was time to import these new harnesses from America. Without the support of AGT this would not have been possible. Thanks heaps guys!!! This year we're excited to have a stall at the Port Chalmers Seafood Festival on Saturday 30th September. Set at the Port of Otago, the event is iconic for showing off local seafood cuisine and it raises over $20,000 for community groups across Dunedin.
This year there are some great musicians, cooking demonstrations and kids entertainment lined up, so get the family together, book your tickets and we will see you there. Tickets are available for purchase now. |
